Tens of thousands of people in leather, rubber and fetish attire are expected in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood on Sunday for the 40th annual Folsom Street Fair. The crowds will bring road closures and transit changes that begin the evening before.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency said the closures will force detours for drivers and bicyclists, and that several Muni bus lines will be rerouted starting Saturday evening.

Streets will be closed from 7 p.m. Saturday until midnight Sunday. Folsom Street will be shut between Eighth and 13th streets. Ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th streets will each be closed between Howard and Harrison streets. All alleys and intersections between Eighth and 13th streets and between Howard and Harrison streets will also be closed.

Muni riders will see the largest effects along the 11th Street and Folsom Street corridors, where a number of stops will be skipped. The agency listed alternative stops for each affected direction of travel.

On one affected line, inbound buses will miss all seven stops between 11th and Harrison streets. Riders are directed to the stops at Potrero Avenue and 15th Street, or Market and Sixth streets. Outbound on that line, the three stops between 11th and Mission streets and 11th and Harrison streets will be missed, and riders should use the 11th and Market streets stop or the Division and Bryant streets stop.

On another affected line, inbound buses will skip the three stops between Folsom and 11th streets and Folsom and Eighth streets. Replacement stops are at Folsom and 14th streets, Bryant and Division streets, Bryant and Ninth streets, Bryant and Eighth streets, and Seventh and Folsom streets. Outbound, the stops at 11th and Harrison streets and Folsom and 11th streets will be missed. Riders can use the Harrison and Ninth streets or Folsom and 14th streets stops.

A third line has a similar pattern. Inbound, the three stops between Folsom and 11th streets and Folsom and Eighth streets will be missed, and riders are told to use the stops at Folsom and 14th streets or Seventh and Folsom streets. Outbound, the stops at 11th and Harrison streets and Folsom and 11th streets will be skipped, with Harrison and Ninth streets and Folsom and 14th streets as the alternatives.

A fourth line will also be affected. Inbound, the stops at 11th and Bryant streets and 11th and Harrison streets will be missed, and riders should use the 11th and Howard streets stops. Outbound, the stops at 11th and Howard streets and 11th and Harrison streets will be skipped, and riders are directed to the 11th and Mission streets stops or the Division and Bryant streets stop.
