Savannah Guthrie, the anchor of the TODAY show, issued a renewed public plea for help on Sunday regarding the abduction of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. The 84-year-old woman was taken from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, 2026, marking the ninth month of the investigation.
In an Instagram post, Guthrie shared a drawing created by her young daughter. The sketch features a blue umbrella surrounded by raindrops. It includes the caption, “I know maybe it doesn’t look like it, but I really need my mom.” Guthrie noted that the artwork reflects her own feelings about the disappearance.
The anchor addressed her immediate family in the post, naming Annie, Tommy, Cam, Kristine, and Mike. She stated that they miss Nancy deeply and cannot move forward without answers. “We need someone to help us; please, tell us what you know,” she wrote.
Law enforcement officials have indicated that a ransom demand was part of the crime. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office leads the investigation with assistance from the FBI. In July, investigators reported that a hair found in the residence did not lead to an identification after analysis.
A task force dedicated to solving the case continues to pursue leads. The sheriff’s office recently announced on X that the team traveled to Florida to meet with laboratory scientists. The goal of the trip was to evaluate additional methods to advance the inquiry.
Guthrie described her mother as “a light in this world.” She asked for information that would allow the family to celebrate Nancy’s life and provide her with the dignity she deserves. The anchor reminded the public that a reward for information remains active. “We are begging you,” she wrote. “Please, help us.”
