Overland High School boys soccer lost 4-3 to top-seeded Legend in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs on Wednesday night. The match took place at EchoPark Stadium in Parker. The Trailblazers finished the game as the 32rd seed against the top seed.
This was Overland’s first appearance in the state tournament since 2022. Coach Mazen Kayali’s team finished the regular season with a 5-5-6 record. That total represented two more wins than the squad recorded in the 2025 season.
Legend, the co-champion of the Continental League, held a 12-1-3 record heading into the contest. The Titans established a lead in the first half. Overland responded with an equalizer in the 26th minute.
Senior Hammam Swissi took a free kick into the penalty area. Junior Hemdry Campose headed the ball off the underside of the crossbar and into the net. The goal tied the score late in the opening 45 minutes.
Legend controlled the second half and outscored Overland 3-2 during that period. The Titans advanced to the second round where they will face 16th-seeded Heritage. Overland’s run in the state playoffs ended with the final whistle on Wednesday.
