The Chicago Bears acquired Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The deal sends Chicago's first-round picks in 2027 and 2028 to Tennessee, along with a fourth-round selection in 2027. The Bears receive a fifth-round pick in 2028 as part of the exchange. The transaction is pending a physical.
Simmons, 29, enters his fourth season in the league after being selected 19th overall by Tennessee in the 2019 NFL Draft. He recorded a career-best 11 sacks in 2025, which earned him his first Associated Press first-team All-Pro honor. Through seven games this season, the defensive tackle has four sacks and 38 tackles. His career totals with the Titans stand at 46.5 sacks and 414 tackles across 106 games.
The trade occurs shortly after Simmons signed a three-year contract extension worth $105.8 million. The contract includes $100 million in guaranteed money and keeps him under contract through the 2030 season. Tennessee's decision to move its defensive leader provides the franchise with draft capital for its rebuilding efforts.
Simmons said on Wednesday that he had not received word from his agent or the organization indicating he would be traded. Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk praised his contributions on and off the field, including his work with the Give 'Em A Reason Foundation. The Bears, who entered the week at 5-2 after two consecutive wins, face the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.
The move strengthens Chicago's defensive front under coach Ben Johnson as the team seeks a deeper postseason run. The trade deadline is set for Nov. 10.
