Southern Colorado residents can expect a stretch of mild and quiet weather before a major shift in the pattern. The region is currently experiencing temperatures well above seasonal norms, with clear skies and light winds dominating the forecast through the middle of the week.

The primary driver of the current calm is a stable atmospheric setup that allows for unseasonable warmth. In the Pikes Peak region, Colorado Springs will see a high of 68 degrees on Wednesday. Nearby Pueblo will be slightly warmer, reaching 71 degrees, while Canon City will top out at 69 degrees. Woodland Park, situated at a higher elevation, will remain cooler with a high of 60 degrees.

Conditions will remain consistent through Thursday, with lower-elevation areas continuing to see highs in the 60s and 70s. Skies will feature a mix of sunshine and passing clouds, with only light breezes. This dry and mild period will hold until Friday, when subtropical moisture begins to move into the area. This incoming moisture will bring scattered rain showers to the mountains and a slight chance of precipitation in far southeast Colorado.

The weather will turn briefly on Saturday as a weak ridge keeps the region mostly quiet. Temperatures will stay mild, and precipitation will remain isolated to the higher terrain. However, a sharp upper-level trough will drop in from the Pacific Northwest by Sunday, signaling the end of the mild spell. This system will bring much colder temperatures and accumulating mountain snow.

The storm system will expand its reach into early next week. Rain and snow showers may wrap around onto the eastern plains, and winds will ramp up late in the weekend. The shift marks a return to cooler conditions, with the warm and dry pattern giving way to active weather and significant snowfall at higher elevations.
