FBI Agents Search California Residence Linked to Eric Swalwell
The search marks the latest development in a federal probe that began with an airport seizure in August.

Federal agents conducted a raid on a residence in California tied to former U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell. The action serves as the newest step in an ongoing investigation into sexual misconduct allegations made against the 45-year-old former Democrat.
Swalwell stepped back from his California gubernatorial campaign earlier this year following the public release of the accusations. He subsequently surrendered his congressional seat. The Department of Justice first intervened in August, when officers stopped the lawmaker at an airport to seize his electronic devices. That initial move was accompanied by a search of his Washington, D.C., home.
Multiple women have accused Swalwell of misconduct, including claims that he raped one woman who was too intoxicated to consent and that he sent unsolicited nude photos to others. Swalwell has consistently denied wrongdoing. His attorney, Sara Azari, described the accusations as "false, fabricated, and deeply offensive" when they first broke.
The legal scrutiny extends beyond the federal government. Separate investigations are currently underway in New York City and Los Angeles. The House ethics committee also opened a review, though that process concluded when Swalwell left office. In August, the White House released declassified files from a distinct FBI inquiry into his relationship with a suspected Chinese spy, Christine Fang. Swalwell has never faced charges related to that specific matter.
The California search adds to the volume of federal activity surrounding Swalwell in the past several months. His legal team and the Department of Justice have been contacted for further comment on the latest seizure.
