Quarterback Jalen Hurts will not play for the rest of the Philadelphia Eagles season. The team confirmed the injury involves a blood clot in his calf. This leaves the Eagles without their primary passer for their remaining games, including an upcoming rivalry contest.
The Eagles (2-4) host the Dallas Cowboys (2-4) in Week 7 action. This matchup serves as the conclusion to the current week of NFL games. Both teams sit with identical records entering the contest. The game will be broadcast on Monday Night Football.
Tanner McKee will start at quarterback for Philadelphia. He took over last week in a 25-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers. In that game, McKee completed passes for 215 yards. His performance came during a stretch where the Eagles offense has struggled to score.
Philadelphia has lost four consecutive games after winning its first two. During those four losses, the offense averaged 14.5 points per game. The team also faced significant issues on the ground, rushing for only 35 yards in the most recent contest. The offensive line has been weakened by injuries, retirements, and trades.
Running back Saquon Barkley is expected to return after missing two games with a hamstring injury. His return is viewed as a potential boost for the struggling offense. Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley are currently on the injured reserve list, making Barkley's availability more important for the ground game.
The Dallas offense remains productive despite its defensive struggles. Quarterback Dak Prescott is fourth in the league with 1,639 passing yards. He has thrown 10 touchdown passes and five interceptions. Two of those interceptions occurred in a 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers last week. Wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens have combined for 81 receptions and 1,005 yards.
Both teams have allowed a high volume of yards this season. The Eagles rank 27th in the NFL, allowing 363.8 yards per game. The Cowboys allow the third-most yards in the league, conceding 382.5 per game. The combined defensive totals suggest a high-scoring environment for the fans watching the contest.
Prediction markets reflect the current state of both teams. Shares for a Dallas victory are priced at $0.66 each. The SportsLine model favors Dallas in 62% of its simulations. Traders can also bet on the total points, with the under 44.5 points priced at $0.51. The over 44.5 points is trading at $0.50.
