The Milwaukee Brewers hold a two-game lead in the 2026 World Series and will attempt to extend their advantage to three games when they face the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday. The contest is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. Milwaukee has won the first two matchups of the best-of-seven series, both of which took place in the Brew City.
The Brewers secured a 5-4 victory on Saturday, overcoming a deficit to claim their second win. Left-hander Robert Gasser, who has a 5-5 record and a 3.87 ERA, is set to pitch for Milwaukee. Tampa Bay will counter with right-hander Freddy Peralta, a former member of the Brewers organization, who holds a 10-11 record and a 4.42 ERA.
Betting markets list Tampa Bay as the favorite for the upcoming contest. The Rays are priced at -117 on the money line, meaning a bettor must risk $118 to win $100. The Brewers are listed at +102. Sportsbooks have set the over/under total for combined runs at 7.
SportsLine, a computer model that simulates Major League Baseball games 10,000 times, analyzed the matchup. The model has a 32-25 record on top-rated money-line picks entering the World Series. For Monday's game, the system projects 8.5 combined runs, favoring the over in 58% of its simulations.
The model cites the offensive capabilities of both teams as the primary factor. It notes that the over has hit in three of the last four head-to-head meetings between these clubs. Additionally, the over has gone 4-1 in the Brewers' last five games and 5-4-1 in the Rays' last ten. In games where Peralta starts, the over has hit 7-5-1.
The projection includes specific player performance metrics. The model expects three Brewers players, including Jackson Chourio, Brice Turang, and Christian Yelich, to record 1.3 or more total bases. It predicts five Rays players, including Yandy Diaz, Junior Caminero, Victor Mesa Jr., Jonathan Aranda, and Cedric Mullins, will reach 1.2 or more total bases.
The Rays have the opportunity to win their first game of the series on Monday night. If they lose, they will trail 3-0, a deficit that has never been recovered in modern World Series history. The first pitch is set for 8 p.m. ET, with the outcome determining whether the series moves to Tampa Bay for Game 4 or returns to Milwaukee.
