Amanda Serrano, a boxer with 32 knockouts, will stop fighting after one final bout in her home country. Most Valuable Promotions announced that the 38-year-old will defend her unified WBO and WBA featherweight world titles against Australia's Skye Falzon on January 9. The event will take place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan.
Serrano holds a professional record of 50 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw. She is the only undisputed boxing champion from Puerto Rico. Her career record places her in a tie for the all-time women's knockout record with American Christy Martin.
The fighter described the end of her career in a statement. She said, "Boxing has been my life and I never could have imagined the journey it would take me and my family on." Serrano traced the growth of women's boxing from small theatre shows to headlining Madison Square Garden in New York. She noted that the sport now reaches millions of fans on major cards.
Serrano made history in 2022 when she and Ireland's Katie Taylor became the first women to headline Madison Square Garden. Their rivalry produced three fights, with Taylor winning the series. Taylor took the third meeting by majority decision in 2025.
Holders of a Guinness World Record for winning titles across seven weight divisions, Serrano has advocated for equality in the sport. In 2023, she competed in the first women's unified world championship bout contested over 12 three-minute rounds. She later vacated her WBC title to maintain her commitment to equal rules.
Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul, founders of Most Valuable Promotions, issued a joint statement praising the athlete. They called the event a celebration of an athlete who changed the sport forever. They stated that the promotion was proud to give Serrano "the farewell she deserves." The promoters said January 9 would mark the end of her career inside the ring.
Opponent Skye Falzon is also 38 years old. Falzon enters the fight with a record of 12 wins and 2 losses, including seven knockouts.
